Minecraft System Requirements: Minimum And Recommended
Can your computer run Minecraft? What are the minimum and recommended Minecraft system requirements? This post will show you the system requirements for Minecraft. In addition, if you dont know how to check computer specifications, this post from MiniTool instructs you.
Using Realms For Multiplayer
Players can also join Realms, which are servers that stay online all the time and dont require a host to be currently playing.
You can send invites to your Realm via your Friends tab or invite via a link if youre playing on a PC. Clicking the link will launch the Minecraft app. Console players will need to be invited via friends list.
After joining the Realm for the first time, you will be able to return to it whenever you want from your Friends tab. The Reams youve joined will appear under Joinable Realms, as long as the Realm is still online.

It Will Never Be Perfect
In many ways, Minecraft is the very best it has ever been, with more players, features, and community support at this point in its life span than at any other. Still, there are areas in which Minecraft can further improve, especially when it pertains to its creator, Mojang Studios. Perfection is unachievable, but “better” can be reached through iteration and transparency.
Minecraft in 2022 is split into two separate versions: Java Edition and Bedrock Edition. Each serves a purpose, and each captures what makes Minecraft unique and special. While the legacy Java Edition maintains mod support and improved servers, it’s limited to a smaller number of platforms and isn’t as “modern.” The Bedrock Edition drops mod support and relies on Realms for servers and the Minecraft Marketplace for community-created content, but it also enjoys great cross-platform compatibility and multiplayer support.
The differences between the two versions of Minecraft extend much further than this, however. There are thousands of parity issues, big and small, that detract from Minecraft’s consistency and further the gap that has long divided the two versions. Mojang Studios steadily works on resolving these parity issues over time, but it often seems like the studio is fighting an unwinnable war in attempting to bridge that chasm. Players considering which version of Minecraft to play should bear in mind that the differences between them number in the thousands.
Now You Can Play Minecraft Multiplayer
Now that you know how to play Minecraft with friends, you can partner or party up with your pals and really open up your Minecraft experiences.
With that in mind, you may be interested in spicing things up with some mods. Forge is the best way to manage your mods and make sure your game doesn’t crash on startup.
In the meantime, get those servers ready and get playing Minecraft multiplayer!

Summon Mobs With Commands
The command/summon can be used to spawn unique and interesting mob types. Examples of what a player could create with the command may be an upside-down spider jockey on top of a skeleton or an enderman with bedrock in its hand and a minecart on its head. Other useful commands used to place or modify blocks automatically are /setblock and /fill. The player could use these to create a giant wall or building without having to manually place everything.
Can You Chat With Strangers In Minecraft
If you’re playing a multiplayer game, you can text-chat with people you don’t know. But you can hide the chat window if you don’t want to see messages or interact. To minimize contact with strangers, you can join a server organized by someone you know or set up your own. Players can also play “local” games with people in their homes. Kids can also download a chatting app such as Discord and voice- or video-chat while playing Minecraft.

Minecraft Vr System Requirements
As a rule, Minecraft is certainly no more taxing in VR than any other game you want to run through your headset. Graphically, until the RTX version at least it has never been overly heavy on the specs for your GPU. The performance hit came hard and fast at the CPU due to the complex amount of math the game uses to generate the world and its biomes.
So if you have a PC capable of running a VR set-up you will be fine to run Minecraft and interact with your world as if you are actually there.
If you want to play Minecraft on an Oculus Quest or Quest 2 headset we have a guide on how to set it up here as there are a couple more hoops to jump through.
- CPU: Intel Core i5-4690 3.5GHz / AMD A10-7800 APU 3.5 GHz or equivalent
- GPU: GeForce 700 Series or AMD Radeon Rx 200 Series with OpenGL 4.5
- RAM: 8 GB
- Storage: SSD and 4GB of free space
- O/S: 64 bit Windows 10 or MacOS Sierra
Try To Play Older Versions
Note: this only works on Java Edition.
In order to do this, open the launcher and select an older version that you would like to play. There are a lot of older versions of Minecraft you can play. Here are some versions you could try:
- Pre-Classic consists of the earliest versions of Minecraft. They are nice and simple, and closely resemble the original “Cave Game” demo.

How You Can Play Minecraft Games Online For Free
The online Minecraft Game is based on the original free Minecraft game produced by Microsoft and launched May 17, 2009. The main idea of the game is to build a shelter and craft items necessary for survival. It is an open world game and players can explore different areas, different terrain, and play in different modes, such as survival, creative, adventure, spectator, and multiplayer.
Players spawn into the game world on an area of the map. Just like the real world, players experience day time and nighttime in Minecraft online, needing to sleep, eat, and create tools for cutting wood and breaking rocks for mining and crafting. Everything in the game is in squares or cubes. Trees have wooden squares that make up the trunk, leaves, and dirt. A simple ax made of wood can chop trees for collecting wood to build a shelter.
Creative or Survival Mode?
You have three choices in Minecraft – creative, survival, and multiplayer. Here, we will discuss creative and survival modes. Creative means that you start the game with an inventory and can craft whatever you need and dont have to worry about being attacked by zombies or dying.
You can mine for coal, diamonds, and gold. You may run into zombies or skeletons while mining, so be sure to have a weapon in your inventory so you dont die. If you die in survival mode, your inventory disappears. Make sure you save items elsewhere in the game so you can retrieve them after you re-spawn.
Minecraft System Requirements 2022
While you can run Minecraft on lower-spec machines, to get the most out of modern Minecraft you are going to need to step up your rig especially if you want to play in VR or with ray-tracing.
Minecraft has built up a false reputation as being easy to run. After all, its just a few blocks right. Okay, so when you take it at face value you might have a point but the pure computational power modern Minecraft demands far exceeds the lowest spec PCs, especially if you want to get into some of the more recent updates such as the Caves and Cliffs, or even the incredible world of Minecraft with Ray Tracing.
There are also lots of assets that can be downloaded that can make your Minecraft world look like a 4K dream, but obviously, thats not going to be possible on low-end laptops.
So below we have a breakdown of the system requirements for the various versions of Minecraft. You can find out more about the differences between the Bedrock and Java versions here in this article we covered previously.

Can My Kid Play With Friends On Minecraft
Yes, it’s possible for your kid to play with their friends. It’s easier on console versions, because you just need to know your friends’ gamertag or player ID to add them to your session. It can be a bit more complicated on PC and mobile systems, because you both have to be on the same server. There are mods and other methods — including manually — to add friends to your dedicated friend lists. Minecraft offers instructions for playing with friends.

Minecraft works just fine right out of the box, but tweaking and extending the game with mods can radically change the experience. Some mods are great for brand new players and seasoned veterans alike, while others are aimed squarely at breathing new life into the game after you have already seen everything that the basic game has to offer. With a never-ending spigot of mods from a tremendously talented and dedicated fan base, you can always find something new to do or see in Minecraft.
Whether you’re brand new to Minecraft, or you’re just new to modding, we’ve put together a list of the 15 best Minecraft mods that improve graphics or performance, add useful functionality, and open up brand new worlds to explore.
If you are brand new to Minecraft, we highly suggest checking out the basic game first to get a feel for it, and then add mods over time to make things easier, prettier, and finally to totally change up the entire experience.
The mods in our list work regardless of the platform you’re using, so you can safely grab them whether you’re playing on Windows, OS X/mac OS, or Linux. However, they only work with Minecraft: Java Edition.
If you’re playing a version of the game like Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition, or any console or mobile version, you have to buy skins, modpacks, and other content from the in-game store. Mods for the Java version of the game do not work with any other version.

Could My Kid Get Addicted To Minecraft
Since Minecraft doesn’t have an end point, it can be incredibly compelling. But even though some kids have a really hard time tearing themselves away from certain games — and some say they feel “addicted” to them — that’s probably due to other factors such as what’s going on in their lives rather than a true dependency. During the coronavirus pandemic, for example, Minecraft saw big increases in new players and multiplayer sessions. With all media, it’s important to help your kid learn to self-regulate, since you won’t always be around to cut them off. Start by having a conversation about all their daily duties and figure out how much game time fits in. Create a calendar, have them set a timer, and reward them for sticking to the time limits. If you’ve tried this and want more control over their screen time, consider installing a parental-control program that lets you set daily screen limits for different programs.

Know Where To Mine For What
Pretty quickly, youll need to start mining for specific resources. Coal will be first, then iron, followed by gold and diamonds. While you can stumble across these resources while exploring, there are far more efficient ways to secure them. All the resources spawn at different vertical locations throughout the game, and there are specific levels that have the highest likelihood of doing so. Coal, for example, spawns most at level Y=96, high in the mountains. Diamonds, on the other hand, spawn deep underground, with level Y=-57 as the best depth. But even on the right level, you probably wont find many resources out in the open. Instead, start strip mining.
To strip mine for diamonds, for example, travel down to level Y=-57, walk up to a wall, and dig a two-block-tall tunnel straight ahead, placing torches at intervals. When mining in these deep levels, always carry cobblestone in your active inventory. When you hit an inevitable lava flow, back up quickly and throw down some stone so you dont burn up. Then turn to the left or right, mine over three blocks, and start digging back in the direction you originally came from. Keep following this back-and-forth grid pattern with two layers between tunnels to maximize the number of blocks youre exposing. This organization also makes it harder to get lost in your mines.

Keep Track Of Where You Are
Minecraft worlds are huge and its easy to get lost. My kids and I lost the very first base we made, much to their chagrin. Getting lost can also be dangerous, especially if you get turned around in a cave and cant find your way back to the surface. Fortunately, there are a few ways to keep your bearings and always find your way home.
The first is to turn on position coordinates. Go to Settings, then Game, and turn on Show Coordinates. This will display a set of three numbers in-game corresponding to the X, Y, and Z axes. X is your east-west position, Y is your vertical position, and Z is your north-south position. When you make a home base, write down its coordinates, and youll always be able to navigate back.
Another trick is to build a tall structure near your home as a visual landmark. I built a series of Ys stacked on top of one another near my castle, which I can see from far away. Its helped me get back on quite a few occasions.
If you do get irrecoverably lost in a cave, pick a wall and start mining up in a staircase pattern. Eventually, youll reach the surface. Just be wary of lava and sudden drops.
