Minecraft: Servers And Realms Coming To Playstation
Minecraft;has been one of the most celebrated games of our time and one of the most prominent fixtures across platforms. The franchise has been able to branch out of its PC roots and had quite the run on consoles as well.
However, PlayStation users were kept out of the loop from one prominent feature of Minecraft that makes it such a fulfilling experience: Realms. These are essentially private servers where players and their friends can share a game session, in the same World.
This becomes an enjoyable experience and makes a usually solitary experience into a fun, social activity in Minecraft. But PlayStation users will finally have access to this invaluable feature and can play with friends.
Minecraft Ps4 Update Servers 1161 Hotfix
The latest Minecraft PS4 update is now live in-game and the patch notes have been revealed by Mojang Studios. The patch notes are as follows:
- Implemented a workaround button combination on startup to clear the players download cache on PS4
You may wish to try the following after the game has updated to version 1.16.1.03:
This workaround was created to stop players suffering from the game getting stuck on the loading screen and crashing. Mojang offered the following statement on the workaround.
Today we are releasing a hotfix for PlayStation 4 that will enable you to clear your sign in data when launching the game, which we hope will avoid the issue where the game is getting stuck on the loading screen and potentially crashing.
The Minecraft PS4 update which affects the PS4 servers and is hotfix 1.16.1 is available now on PS4.

Sony Refuses To Work With Microsoft On ‘minecraft’ And Thats A Shame For Ps4 Owners
“Minecraft” is one of the most popular, most-played games in the world for two main reasons:
You can play “Minecraft” on your iPhone or your Xbox One, and it’s basically the same game.
Even though Microsoft owns and operates the Xbox brand, it continues to support “Minecraft” as a multi-platform game. It’s a striking anomaly among Microsoft’s portfolio of first-party games “Halo,” for instance, only comes to Microsoft-owned platforms . The same could be said for the “Forza Motorsport” franchise, “Gears of War,” and many others.
Microsoft’s next move with “Minecraft” is even more dramatic: An update coming to “Minecraft” this year unifies all versions of the game if you’re playing on an iPhone, you can team up with a friend on Xbox One and craft a world together. A friend playing the game in an Oculus Rift VR headset on a PC could jump in, and another friend on the Nintendo Switch could too.;
It’s hard to overstate how big of a deal that is, which is why it’s so unfortunate that a single company refuses to participate: Sony.;
Though “Minecraft” on the PlayStation 4 is essentially the same game, you’ll only be able to play “Minecraft” on PlayStation 4 with other PlayStation 4 owners. And it’s Sony that’s stopping that from happening.;
In a FAQ published on Monday, Microsoft issued another volley at Sony over the issue:
“Q: Will the new version be available on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch?

When Are Servers Coming To Minecraft Ps4
This answer is now defunct, as of December 10, 2019, PS4 is getting Bedrock Edition Minecraft, and everything that comes with it. Ive never been more happy to be wrong about a prediction, and Im glad Sony softened on their position on CrossPlay. I just wish it had happened sooner, and that it didnt take finding how arbitrary their splitting from shared multiplayer experiences was for Fortnite to get them to begin considering alternatives. My original answer remains below
Short term, there are no plans to do so. PS4 Minecraft is still console-specific, not Bedrock Edition.
Long-term, for Sony to allow Bedrock Edition on their platform, they would need to be willing to let players log into their Xbox Live accounts on their platform, make cross-platform purchases, and allow cross-platform multiplayer. All of those things are the stipulations for having Bedrock Edition on your platform.
Sonys attitude is that they are 100% unwilling to allow cross-platform because they consider their player ecosystem the best and dont want to dilute that. I wouldnt hold your breath for this position to change

Publicly Available Bedrockconnect Instances
There are multiple BedrockConnect serverlist servers available that can be used, giving you multiple options to connect to. Currently, they do NOT share the same player database, so if you have added a server to your list on any of the given servers and connect to a different one, you will need to save that data again.
If you are currently hosting a BedrockConnect instance and are interested in adding it to this list, create a pull request adding it to the table above.

So, I’m very new Minecraft, and really am enjoying it so far. I am playing on a PS4 – when i try join a server it says that it’s “coming soon”. After a bit of Googling, it looks like servers aren’t available yet for the PS4. How is it that people on this forum are playing on servers, on their PS4s?

“Realms” and “Servers” are different things, realms is a external world mojang keeps open 24/7 for a fee which isn’t available for PS4 until next update when we get 1.15 and 1.16 together. Servers is where people are just creating their own worlds and opening them up to others online but you can only access that world when the owner is online.

Hmmm… So, currently, if I download the server software, and set it up on a server , can PS4 players join that server?

I doubt it but i dont know on that one so worth a try?

You cannot because console manufacturers doesn’t let the game to connect to custom servers. BUT, you can connect to LAN servers. Therefore with a proxy software running in any PC in the LAN of your PS4 you can access remote servers.This is the proxy software: It is pretty easy to use too. I am running a server for ps4 players where we use the proxy.

You Can Finally Play Minecraft With Your Friends On Ps4
Minecraft cross-play has finally come to PlayStation 4. The last holdout on the block-builders platform-agnostic ambitions, Sony has finally agreed to whatever terms it needed to. Minecraft: Bedrock Edition is now on PS4, which means that PC, Xbox One, Switch, mobile, and PlayStation 4 fans can all play together like the great big happy family they are.
Now that Minecraft: Bedrock Edition is on PS4 as a free update if you already own the game the multi-platform release now shares unified code across every version. That means cross-play now works across everything, but it also means PS4 will get updates at the same time as other platforms, as well as the Minecraft Marketplace and its selection selection of worlds, skins, and minigames.
PCs Java Edition of Minecraft is still a separate version that can only connect with other Java Edition players across Windows, MacOS, and Linux. If you want to play with your console pals, youll still need Bedrock Edition, which is currently only available on Windows 10 via the Microsoft Store.
Check out a trailer for our delightful multi-platform future below.
Despite plenty of cross-play development on titles ranging from Fortnite to Rocket League, cross-play is still not a guarantee, and PS4 has typically been the last platform to adopt the feature. Heres hoping were on the verge of a more open future for multi-platform multiplayer games.

Minecraft On Ps4 Ps5 Finally Gets Two Missing Multiplayer Features
If youve bene playing Minecraft on the PlayStation 4 for a while now, youve been doing so without two key features that other platforms had access to. Those omissions have finally been resolved though now that both Realms and Servers have come to the PlayStation platforms which means youve got new ways to play with other players whether youre on the PlayStation 4 or are now playing on the PlayStation 5.
Mojang announced the release of the Realms and Servers this week with the video below shared to introduce the two multiplayer features. Though they both allow players to link up with friends and other random players, they function differently from one another.
Its official: Servers and Realms have come to PlayStation! Play online, create amazing co-op builds, or team up for an adventure:
When it comes to Servers, those function much like youd expect any other server to work in another game that supports multiplayer. Look for the Servers tab when youre in Minecraft and youll be able to choose from a number of different worlds created by players in the community where you and others can take part in all sorts of activities thatll differ depending on what Server youre in.
This gives you access to unique content created by your fellow Minecrafters, whom you can also play with! Mojang said about the features. Servers are full of competitive game modes, builds, and mini-games so creative that only our incredible community could have dreamed them up.

Minecraft: Bedrock Edition Has Full Crossplay Support Now That Ps4 Has Opted In
Minecraft: Bedrock Edition now supports full crossplay across all platforms, following the imminent arrival of that edition to PlayStation 4. Sony confirmed the news in an announcement today, with the update expected to go live “tomorrow”.;
It’s great news for PS4 fans, as until now players on that platform have been limited to playing with other PS4 owners. It’s also noteworthy for the fact that Minecraft is now a Microsoft property. With the PS4 and Xbox platforms constantly at war over marketshare, it demonstrates that an up-to-date Minecraft is important to both stakeholders. What next, Masterchief skins in The Last of Us: Part 2? .
Of course, this crossplay functionality only applies to the Bedrock Edition, ie, the edition available on the Microsoft Store. If you’re still using Java Edition – which, if you’re into modding, you probably are – then you’ll still be restricted to playing with other PC users of that version.
While Sony has long supported crossplay between PC and PS4, it’s been a bit reluctant to roll out the functionality to other consoles. But that apparently changed in October, with SIE CEO Jim Ryan implying that crossplay is now A-OK.
