5 STRUCTURES That Could Be in the Next Minecraft UPDATE!

Posted on October 15, 2022 by Brian in News, Switch

Today, Mojang shared the first details about the next major update for Minecraft, version 1.20. It will launch sometime in 2023. Mojang will be using the time until release to shape the update throughout the development process and gain input from the community.

Although a name for the update hasnt been shared, we do know what the theme is. Its intended to enable self-expression through representation.

Heres what we know about the Minecraft version 1.20 update thus far:

Minecraft 118 Seed Parity

During the Minecraft Live 2021 show, Mojang announced another large detail for Minecraft 1.18. As of the second half of Caves & Cliffs, Minecraft’s two main versionsJava and Bedrockwill share almost identical world seeds.

Minecraft world seeds allow you to create a specific world by entering a number in the new world menu when creating it. Any save file started by using a particular world seed will be identical to any other using the same seed. That only works if you’re using the same version of Minecraft though. You can see on our list of best Minecraft seeds that Java and Bedrock currently have different world seeds.

For version 1.18, Java and Bedrock versions of Minecraft have almost identical worlds generated by the same seed. Mojang says of complete seed parity that “We’re not 100% there yet, but close. It’s very similar. Details will be different.” You can see just how close your Java and Bedrock worlds will be in one of the examples up there that Mojang shared. Can you spot the differences?

Beta Versions And Snapshots For Minecraft 120

Lastly, theres the question of Beta versions of Minecraft 1.20. When will we start seeing new features in Snapshots?

Well, @LadyAgnes Twitter page is full of information about Minecraft updates. She tends to retweet important posts from all the developers on the team, and we recommend following her for updates.

For example, Jay, aka @Mega_Spud, announced a snapshot release that fixes some bugs in Minecraft 1.19. For example, a current bug is Allays duplicating items.

If youve been following Minecraft 1.20 news on Twitter, you might have seen this tweet from @SmokeyStack_. Hes a data miner and has recently discovered some code already in the Minecraft snapshots. The code reveals that theres most likely going to be an editor mode added to the game. In addition, itll add powerful tools to the game intended for experienced players. It sounds like itll be some toolbox mode.

While snapshots are revealing, its most likely that we wont see any Minecraft 1.20 features until after Minecraft Live which is on the 27th of October 2022.

When Does The Minecraft 120 Update Launch

Minecraft 1.20 will launch sometime in 2023, though Mojang has not given a specific date yet. Since Mojang has explained that features in the update are closer to complete development, it feels likely that we will see the new version launch a year after the latest one, sometime in the summer of 2023.

Even though the full update will not launch for a while yet, we’ll get to start messing with Minecraft 1.20 features really soon. Mojang has said that it will begin releasing 1.20 snapshots and Minecraft Preview builds just a few days after the reveal stream on October 15.

Lush Cave And Dripstone Cave Biomes

Dipping back down below ground again, Caves and Cliffs part 2 is bringing two more cave types: the Lush Cave and the Dripstone Cave.

Lush Caves are temperate caves filled with vines, moss, and more exotic flora such as Glow Berries, Spore Blossoms, Azalea trees and roots, and dripleaf: a new block type which can only carry a player’s weight for a short time before tipping and letting the player fall. Sounds like Lush Caves are gonna be great environments for some parkour. I can’t wait to see what these gorgeous caves look like with the best Minecraft shader packs.

Dripstone Caves are, predictably, home to the new Dripstone blocks, which naturally grow through the process of dripping to create organic-looking stalactites and stalagmites. Besides this fascinating terrain feature, Dripstone Caves are functionally identical to any other cave, but they’ll no doubt be highly sought after just for the dripstone.

Bamboo Wood In Minecraft

An entirely new wood set that players can use to create all of the wood variants will be added with the 1.20 update. This wood set is created from bamboo, which already exists within Minecraft and can be found throughout the jungle biome.

As is the case with all other wood sets in Minecraft, the bamboo wood set includes a wide variety of assets that can be created from the base bamboo plank block.

  • Bamboo planks can be made from four bamboo.
  • Bamboo stairs can be created from six bamboo planks.
  • Bamboo slabs can be crafted from three bamboo planks.
  • Bamboo signs can be made from six bamboo planks and one stick.
  • Bamboo doors can be created from six bamboo planks.
  • Bamboo fences can be crafted from four bamboo planks and two sticks.
  • Bamboo trapdoors can be made from six bamboo planks.
  • Bamboo fence gates can be crafted from two bamboo planks and four sticks.
  • Bamboo pressure plates can be created from two bamboo planks.
  • Bamboo buttons can be made from one bamboo plank.

Unlike all other wood sets, the bamboo set includes a unique block type called the bamboo mosaic. This intricate block has a unique design and can be crafted into three block types.

  • Bamboo mosaics can be created from two bamboo slabs.
  • Bamboo mosaic slabs can be crafted from two bamboo mosaics.
  • Bamboo mosaic stairs can be made from six bamboo mosaics.

Bamboo currently has very limited uses but will become much more usable with an entire wood set and a few extra special blocks that can be created from it.

New Mobs In Minecraft 120

Badgers

Mojang currently has three games within the Minecraft franchise, including Minecraft, Minecraft Dungeons, and the upcoming Minecraft Legends. Even though the games arent directly linked, the studio is known for porting mobs from one game to another. Expanding on that, we expect the badger mob, featured in the gameplay trailer of Minecraft Legends, to reach the main Minecraft game as well.

Unlike every other mob in the trailer, the badger has no counterpart in the main game. Moreover, it even fits the overall theme of a potential savanna update. But since there is no official announcement of the same, its best to consider the badger as a cute rumor rather than an upcoming addition.

Apart from the badger, we can expand the possibilities based on the expected biomes that might be added in Minecraft 1.20. So we might see the following mobs in the game with the next update:

Please note that other than the fireflies, none of the mobs have any official in-game rendition. Moreover, if you want to know why fireflies were removed from the Minecraft 1.19 update, check out the linked article.

What New Blocks Are Getting Added In Minecraft 120

30 Updates That Might Be In Minecraft 1.20!

So far, the new blocks for Minecraft 1.20 we’ve seen are mostly centered around personalizing builds and telling stories through new contraptions. There’s the new bamboo wood type, the functional chiseled bookshelf, and hanging signs too.

  • Hanging signs: they’ll come in wall, ceiling, and narrow hanging varieties.
  • Bamboo wood: a full set of wood blocks made from bamboo including doors, stairs, trapdoors, and planks.
  • Raft: the bamboo version of a boat is actually a flat raft you can ride on.
  • Bamboo mosaic: A new decorative block type just for bamboo.
  • Chiseled bookshelf: A functional bookshelf that you can place up to six books on.

The chiseled bookshelf is particularly neat thanks to its redstone signal capability. It will give off a redstone signal based on how many books it currently holds, which Mojang suggests could power some very cool secret doors. The shelf doesn’t have an inventory UI, Mojang says. That likely means you’ll place books on the shelf by clicking on it with a book in hand or taking a book by pointing with your reticle and clicking with an empty hand.

Minecraft 119 Update Release Date

MCPE BETA 1.7 ð on Twitter: " Happy September 1st! Itâs 28 days until ...

Minecraft 1.19, The Wild Update, wasn’t given a specific release date at Minecraft Live 2021. Instead, we got a release date window. Worse, a very vague one.

Minecraft 1.19 will arrive in 2022, the kind of release date window we got from Minecraft Live 2020 with the Caves and Cliffs Update.

The Caves and Cliffs update was eventually split into two parts, with the first arriving on June 8th, 2021, and the second part scheduled for the holiday season.

With The Wild being significantly less expansive than Caves and Cliffs, we expect it won’t need as much development time and should come out in the first half of 2022.

Our estimate would be for Minecraft 1.19 to release in May.

New Biomes In Minecraft 120

Over the years, Minecraft has teased several new and revamped biomes, but they never reached the players. Hopefully, we might see some of them finally find their way into the game in Minecraft 1.20.

Desert Biome

In 2018, Minecraft held a biome vote where the community chose Tagia as the biome they wanted to get a revamp. But developers assured that the losing biomes will be implemented in a later update. We think its finally time to update the Desert biome in Minecraft 1.20.

The new desert biome is supposed to get palm trees, meercats, and possibly an oasis in the revamped version. We also expect to see some new variants of the cactuses in the desert biome as the developers gave a green light to such an idea here.

Savanna Biome

The second biome that lost in the 2018 vote is the Savanna biome. If the developers decide to update this biome instead of the desert, we expect to see a revamped Savanna in Minecraft 1.20 update. It might have Baobab trees, , termites, and evenostriches.

Badlands Biome

Minecraft also had a biome vote in 2019 in which the mountains won, and a revamped version went live in the Minecraft 1.17 update. But whats interesting is that the losing Mangrove swamp biome also got updated in the Minecraft 1.19 update. So, whats left is the Badlands biome, which might finally get an update in Minecraft 1.20.
