Use Lodestone To Guide The Compass In Minecraft

How to make Compass point towards Player in Minecraft (Dream Manhunt) – Tutorial

The lodestone is a special item that can be used as the homing point for your compass in Minecraft. If you’re lucky, you can find a Bastion Remnant Bridge Chest. It has a 100% chance of spawning a lodestone. In case Lady Luck isn’t on your side, you can always craft the lodestone yourself.

In order to make one lodestone in Minecraft, you will have to gather the following resources:

  • 1 Netherite Ingot
  • 8 Chiseled Stone Bricks

The Netherite Ingot is quite tricky to craft. First, you will have to locate an Ancient Debris vein in the Nether realm. It spawns in groups of 1-3 from level 22 to 8 . Remember to bring a Diamond pickaxe to mine the Debris, and you will need four to make 1 Netherite Ingot.

Once you have your debris ready, bring them to the surface and start smelting. Another ingredient required for crafting the Netherite Ingot is the gold ingot. You also need 4 of them, but gold is much easier to get.

After you have gathered all the materials, place them inside the Crafting Table as shown in the picture below.

Watch the video below to learn how to craft Chiseled Stone Bricks.

Place the ingredients in the Crafting Table following the recipe below to make a lodestone in Minecraft.

Standing alongside maps is one of the oldest features that have been added to Minecraft.

Standing alongside maps is one of the oldest features that have been added to Minecraft. But today we will be talking about how to use a Minecraft compass. Earlier, these items only had one very specific use in the overworld alone, but recent updates have given this item a new feature to take a look at as well.

How Can I Make The Compass Point To A Player

I want to make a hunting Minecraft map, and each hunter has a tracking compass that points to the nearest player. My friend said that I need a plugin or mod . The plugin thing seems to be complicated so I want to know if there’s a way to do this with commands only.

I tried setting spawnpoints of the hunters to the hunted but this only works if the hunter dies: next time they respawn, the compass points to it but only where the hunted stood when the hunter died.

  • 3Have you made any attempt to solve this yourself? Arqade works better when askers show effort to solve their own problems we see that you have a problem you’ve worked on, and answerers respond to that. You also get a more specific answer that’s tailored exactly to the part you’re stuck, and Arqade gets a very specific question. Everybody wins!Mar 4, 2016 at 12:54
  • 3uhm… i have: set new spawnpoint repeatedly. and i see this comment of you like for 1 billion times! I know that it is better not to rely on others, you should try your way out first but the thing is I HAVE TRIED MY BEST IT TOOK ME 3 DAYS THINKING AND TESTING!!!!Mar 4, 2016 at 13:34
  • 1Wow… Exactly. I connect it to a fast redstone clock,so that the hunted’s location could be updated. But, as I have mentioned before, the compass only updates when the hunters respawn.Mar 4, 2016 at 13:54
  • 1Adding in what you have tried is important. Otherwise, we might be retreading the same ground you’ve already gone over.

How To Use A Lodestone Compass

To make a Lodestone Compass youre going to need to find a Lodestone first. After you find it take your compass and right-click it or press the left trigger to make it a Lodestone Compass.

Making a Lodestone Compass is particularly helpful when in the Nether or The End. Because the compass will always point to the Lodestone no matter what, so if you get lost in either one of these dimensions, its a good way to lead you back to the portal home.

How Does The Compass Work

How To Make A Compass In Minecraft Pe

A compass always points to the spawn point of the world. No matter where you are or how much you spin around, it always shows the exact same direction, even when you drop it. However, when players enter the Nether realm, the compass will start spinning around and pointing in random directions. Not much help there, right?

To make a compass work in the Nether Realm, you will have to bind it to a lodestone. Once it glows like an enchanted item, it’s ready to go.

How To Craft A Recovery Compass In Minecraft

The first step toward crafting a Recovery Compass is to obtain a regular Compass, and that can be done in several ways. The easiest of those ways is simply to craft a Compass by combining four Iron Ingots with one Redstone Dust in Minecraft. More specifically, players should place the Redstone Dust in the center of the crafting grid and then put the Iron Ingots above it, below it, to its left, and to its right.

With a Compass in hand, players are ready to move onto the next phase of crafting a Recovery Compass: obtaining eight Echo Shards. These items can only be found in chests in Ancient Cities, large underground structures that have a chance to spawn at layer -52 in Deep Dark biomes. While there is no guaranteed method for locating Ancient Cities in Minecraft, players that spend some time exploring caves, particularly those that appear beneath large mountains, should eventually encounter one.

After finding a Deep Dark biome in Minecraft, entering an Ancient City, and looting eight Echo Shards from its chests, fans will have everything that they need to craft a Recovery Compass. Again this is performed in the crafting grid, and players should place a regular Compass in the middle and then surround it with Echo Shards. Indeed, this marks the end of the process, and fans will now be ready to use the item as needed.

To make a compass you will need four iron ingots and one Redstone dust. Locate some iron ore and mine it with at least a stone pickaxe.

You can distinguish iron by its brown specks. While you are in your mines look for redstone ore. It is easily distinguished by its red flecks and it will light up as you hit it or walk over it.

You will need at least an iron pickaxe to mine the Redstone ore. Smelt your iron ore in a furnace and wait for your iron to finish cooking.

Take your materials to a crafting table and place your Redstone dust in the middle-most slot and arrange your ingots around the middle slot in a plus sign.

How To Make Compass Point To Bed

To make a compass point towards a bed or any custom location, you need to craft a lodestone. Its a utility block in Minecraft that makes your compass point towards the location where the lodestone is placed. It ignores the original world spawn point after being connected to the lodestone.

    Crafting Recipe for a Lodestone

To craft a lodestone, you need to combine 8chiseled stone bricks with a netherite ingot. Use our linked guide to easily find Netherite in Minecraft. As for the bricks, you can use a stone cutter to craft them with ease.

The crafting recipe for the lodestone is shown in the image below. You need to place the netherite ingot in the middle and surround it with chiseled stone bricks.

When its ready, you just have to use the compass on the lodestone to activate it. This works even in the Nether and the End dimension. But if the loadstone gets destroyed, the connection will break, and the compass will start pointing to the world spawn point again. You can even have separate compasses pointing to different lodestones. This game mechanic is useful to mark different locations in the game.

If you want a permanent way to make your compass point towards a certain location, you can change that worlds spawn point. To do that, you can use the following command:

How To Point A Compass Arrow To A Certain Player

my cousin wants to play minecraft manhunt, but we play on ps4. I was wondering if we could use a command block to make a compass arrow point at a certain player.

    • 1what i mean is things that arent exactly just like that. for example setting world spawn to the runners location makes a compass point at a player but can cause some problemsFeb 28, 2021 at 2:52
    • im not an expert at bedrock commands, so i dont know the exact syntax unfortunately.

This is easily possible with commands. Do:

This is actually possible with commands, but not for a long time.

You have to use the /execute command on the target player:

    /execute < player> ~ ~ ~ spawnpoint < player> ~ ~ ~

< player> 1 is the one who sets the spawn whilst < player> 2 is you

The reason why it won’t be so used properly is because of a few reasons:

  • You will need the chunk where the command block to be loaded at all times. So if any of you go too far, the repeating command block won’t work. It doesn’t really help if you put multiple repeating command blocks around the world just so you can get him to set the world spawn.
  • It’s a disadvantage to the runner if we want to reconsider Reason 1, because the hunter can easily respawn at the runner’s current position which makes it easier to kill them.

When held by a player who has recently died, the dial on the Recovery Compass points to the location of their death.

However, if you try to use the Recovery Compass in a different dimension to the one you died in, like the Nether or The End, it wont be able to point to your death location and so the dial will simply spin around.

Get A Piece Of Redstone Dust

Redstone ore is also located beneath the overworld. However, you need better than a stone pickaxe to mine it – an iron version of the tool works.

Other than it, the process to find Redstone is pretty much the same as getting iron. Simply spend some time mining underground, and you’re bound to find some. A furnace isn’t needed this time as once you break a Redstone ore block, it bursts into dust pieces.

You can use a compass to point you to your worlds spawn point. This is the spot that you spawn at when you first create a world. You can use /setworldspawn if you want to change your world spawn point and have commands enabled. However, the compass will not point you to your bed if you sleep in a bed and change your spawn point. It will also not work when you are in the Nether or the End.

The compass will also point to lodestones that you have placed in your world. Playing Java Edition, your lodestone compass will glow like an enchanted weapon, armor piece, book or apple. If you are playing Bedrock edition, your lodestone compass will turn cyan.
