When Is Minecraft 118 Caves And Cliffs Update Coming Out

When Is Minecraft 1.18 Coming Out?

One of the most significant updates in the history of Minecraft was divided into two parts. The first part of the Caves and Cliffs update has been released globally, and the second part of the update, which contains the most exciting features, is yet to be released.

This was done to make working on the update more manageable for the developers and designers as it was huge.

Developers Reveal When The Minecraft Caves And Cliffs Update Will Be Released

During the Minecraft Live 2021 event, the developers of Minecraft talked about the deep dark cave and when the 1.18 update will come out. They have decided not to release the deep dark cave with the 1.18 update.

Agnes ‘LadyAgnes’ Larsson, the vanilla Minecraft game director, announced that Minecraft version 1.18 will be released in a month or two from now. She also said that the update is almost done.

Now that the developers do not have to worry about designing or working on the deep dark cave biome in general, they can emphasize other features of version 1.18 and release them quickly.

Whichever part of the Minecraft 1.18 update interests you the most, its worth taking a few minutes to read the official Caves and Cliffs part two patch notes for your Minecraft version of choice.

Test Versions Released For Minecraft 118

A second and then third Minecraft 1.18 Release Candidate has arrived! Here’s a quick video of the few changes in these versions! youtube.com/watch?v=VIcxqP

For Java and Bedrock editions, the developers have released many test versions. Release candidates, pre-releases, and snapshots are Java Edition versions and betas are for Bedrock Edition. After releasing quite a few snapshots, eight pre-releases were released that came with a ton of bug fixes.

Three Minecraft 1.18 update release candidates have also come out, and they each have one fixed bug. The first one also came with a change made to the server resource pack size limit.

Can You Play It Early

You can play Minecraft 1.18 early right now. The release candidate is a way for players to get access to the update for testing purposes.

Generally, players on Minecraft Java can test it out and report any issues they come across. They work as a community-wide QA tester.

It is recommended to not do this with worlds you care about greatly as there’s always a small chance it could mess with it. If you really want to play an old world, make sure you have a backup somewhere.

This being said, the update is out very soon so it’s likely not worth your time to get in there now.

How To Tame And Breed Axolotls In Minecraft

You cannot tame an Axolotl, but you can force it to breed with another Axolotl to produce a baby.

To get two Axolotls to breed, you need to get them near each other, and feed each of them a Bucket of Tropical Fish to get them to enter “Love Mode”. At this point they will breed with one another, producing a baby Axolotl. This is the same process by which you can breed many other animals, such as Foxes.

Baby Axolotls will follow their parents until fully grown, which happens 20 minutes after birth. You can speed up the journey to adulthood by feeding the baby more Buckets of Tropical Fish.

You can also lead an Axolotl in a direction by approaching it and holding a Bucket of Tropical Fish in your hand, much like how a Pig will follow a carrot on a stick. This will help you when it comes to getting both Axolotls in the same place ready for breeding.

Note: Tropical Fish on its own does not do anything. You need to use a Bucket of Tropical Fish to have any effect on nearby Axolotls.

Lush Cave And Dripstone Cave Biomes

Dipping back down below ground again, Caves and Cliffs part 2 is bringing two more cave types: the Lush Cave and the Dripstone Cave.

Lush Caves are temperate caves filled with vines, moss, and more exotic flora such as Glow Berries, Spore Blossoms, Azalea trees and roots, and dripleaf: a new block type which can only carry a player’s weight for a short time before tipping and letting the player fall. Sounds like Lush Caves are gonna be great environments for some parkour. I can’t wait to see what these gorgeous caves look like with the best Minecraft shader packs.

Dripstone Caves are, predictably, home to the new Dripstone blocks, which naturally grow through the process of dripping to create organic-looking stalactites and stalagmites. Besides this fascinating terrain feature, Dripstone Caves are functionally identical to any other cave, but they’ll no doubt be highly sought after just for the dripstone.

Minecraft Caves And Cliffs Part 2 Update Introduces Large Ore Veins And New Ore Distribution

With the underground world of Minecraft expanding vertically down by 64 layers, loads of opportunities for even more mining of ores and materials will open, but the task of finding exactly what you need might be a bit trickier. In Minecraft update 1.18, new large ore veins can be discovered underground. These winding formations are rare but contain a lot more of a particular ore than usual. Mine between y0 and y50 to find Copper veins with Granite mixed in, and search within y-8 and y-60 to find Iron veins with Tuff.

Ores as a whole have seen lots of redistribution with this update, largely to compensate for the huge increase to the vertical world size. One of the key general changes to ore distribution is that individual ores have more specific layer ranges to generate in, so there wont be a particular Y level that is good for all ores. Heres a list of where you can find ores as of the Caves and Cliffs part 2 update:

Did You Forget About The Excavation Sites

Minecraft 1.18 – But what happens to my old world?

No, and theres a reason for not adding it to confirmed features. Excavation sites are confirmed not to come to Minecraft 1.18.

The reason why is due to the backlash of the community. Many people werent happy about this announcement. Plus they already have a lot to do with the new generation. So now, this massive feature is indefinitely delayed.

What About The Other Features That Were Promised In Caves And Cliffs Part 2

Several notable additions that were planned to be released with Minecraft 1.18 have since been delayed, and will now reach us at the earliest in Minecraft 1.19, which will likely drop sometime in 2022. These delays include the new Deep Dark biome, Sculk Blocks, and the Warden.

It’s been further confirmed that at least three of the delayed features won’t be included in the Wild Update either, though the Minecraft team are at pains to assure us that none of these features are cancelled. Still, it’s sad news for those of us who have been most excited about these changes, but at least we’ll soon get to explore the vast new terrain changes that Minecraft 1.18 will bring.
