Minecraft has an interesting set of advancements for players to achieve as they progress further into the game. They can keep people hooked by offering different challenges and activities to participate in. Once players complete these, they are rewarded with advancements. All three realms of a world have their own set of advancements.

One of the advancements in the Nether is called ‘Hot Tourist Destinations’. It is fairly difficult to complete if one is new to the game but quite easy if the player is experienced and has overpowered items. The gamer can either focus entirely on getting the advancement or simply play the game normally and obtain it naturally.

Four: Understanding The Hunger Meter And Gathering Food

You now have a shelter and tools but you are missing the one necessity for survival â food. On hardcore when it reaches zero it will drain your health until you die.

To replenish your hunger meter you must eat food. Early on your main source of food will come from animals like cows, pigs, and chickens. Simply kill one of these animals and retrieve the meat it drops.

Put your coal in the bottom spot of the furnace along with the food in the top spot and wait about ten seconds for the food to cook. Take the food out once it’s cooked and consume to gain more hunger points.

Later on, you can start making farms like wheat farms or mushroom farms, or even melon farms if you find the materials.

Setting Up Server Properties

Now lets look at some server properties we can change to customize what kind of Minecraft game you want to play in your server. Open the server properties file.

Once here, you will see a lot of text sections. Lets cover the most important ones and look at the properties you will most likely want to change.

The properties highlighted in the above image are some of the most important ones you should be familiar with. The first gamemode=survival property determines the gamemode you and your players will play in the server by default. This is set to survival meaning you will have hunger and health you will have to manage in game. Setting this to gamemode=creative lets the players build, break, and fly as they are untouchable and unkillable in this gamemode.

The next spawn-monsters=true is a property that tells the server monsters and dangerous enemies will appear. Changing this to spawn-monsters=false will stop monsters from spawning even in survival mode.

One of the more important properties in our experience with minecraft servers is the next highlighted pvp=true line. PvP stands for player vs play so this controls whether or not players can damage each other. By default this is set to true meaning players can hurt and damage one another in game. Setting this to pvp=false will disable and ability for players to damage each other.
